Carlito Brigante and Dead Star
The sculpture Carlito Brigante was created as an inspiration from H.R. Giger’s sketch for the unrealized film Dead Star. Director Steve Malone’s project was intended to be a “Hellraiser in space” – a story about an expedition that discovers an artifact opening the gate to hell.
At that time, Giger created a series of dark concepts, including the image of a Devil with a cloak woven from souls. One of those sketches became the starting point for Brigante.
Although the film was never made, its spirit survived in art – Brigante’s sculpture is a contemporary tribute to Giger’s lost, biomechanical vision.
